Jessica Chastain looked regal in a floor-length golden dress at a special screening of Memory at the Film Independent event in Los Angeles on Thursday. To take on the role of Sylvia – a single mother and recovering alcoholic – the Oscar winner explained that she had to ‘fill in the blanks’ and make her character’s troubled past feel like her own. Jessica recently opened up about the preparation she had to do to play her new role on screen, which is her first since her star turn as late televangelist Tammy Faye Messner. The actress, 46, stars alongside Peter Saarsgaard in the new drama as social worker Sylvia who has to confront her traumatic past when she has a surprise encounter with on old classmate. For the film, Jessica went without a makeup team, did not have a personal trailer, and secured her own wardrobe for the New York film set. The questions of – what really happened to her? The two main characters eventually form an emotional connection, complicating the way they relate to each other. She leads with trauma, she leads with the memory of her past. Jessica seemed in good spirits throughout the evening as she was seen smiling and laughing along with the audience. She’s a sober person, and has been for 13 years and I had to really fill out the blanks of what her life has been to make it as specific as possible. For the event – which was held at the Harmony Gold in California – Jessica opted for a smart and confident look made up of a patterned gown and formal suit jacket. The feature also stars Merritt Wever, Brooke Timber, Jessica Harper, Josh Charles, and Elsie Fisher. She leads with shame. The Academy Award-winning star let her red locks flow free as she took her seat at the event. Speaking in a virtual Q&A with Film Independent, she said: ‘With Sylvia, so much is about how we meet her and how she walks through life and what she leads with.
It’s a more modern look for a classic solitaire but still retains an elegant, wearable style. A source told The Sun: ‘Dua and Callum are so in love and know this is forever. Their family and friends are so happy. Callum is such a solid support for Dua and they make a wonderful couple. The diamond could either be set in a bezel, which is a gold (https://www.backtoglamour.com/blog/2024/07/22/the-setting-makes-use-of-sterling-silver-2/) surround that secures the diamond without the need of claws, or a simple four claw setting’. The happy couple, who have been dating for over a year, are planning to celebrate their engagement with friends and family on New Year’s Eve. Anya explained that the diamond was either a round or cushion cut and in her expertise, guessed it to be two carats. Days earlier, Dua flashed a different diamond ring in an Instagram post that showcased her Christmas festivities. They are engaged and couldn’t be happier. From what I can see, it’s a beautiful, classic solitaire – a long-term favorite beloved by brides-to-be – that can easily be teamed with Dua Lipa’s many styles and outfits,’ she added. Dua has had one of the best years of her career professionally and this is the cherry on the cake.

WASHINGTON, Feb 19 (Reuters) – Astronomers for the first time have deciphered the three-dimensional structure of the atmosphere of a planet beyond our solar system, revealing three layers like a wedding cake on a ferociously hot gas planet that orbits close to a star bigger and hotter than our sun. Its atmosphere is mainly composed of hydrogen and helium, like that of Jupiter, our solar system’s largest planet. The researchers peered through the atmosphere of WASP-121b, a planet also called Tylos, by combining all four telescope units of the European Southern Observatory’s Chile-based Very Large Telescope, discerning a stratification of layers with different chemical compositions and intense winds. WASP-121b is an “ultra-hot Jupiter,” a class of large gas planets that orbit close to their host star, making them extremely hot. But WASP-121b’s atmosphere is not like anything ever seen before. WASP-121b’s bottom layer was characterized by the presence of iron – a metal in gaseous form because of the incredible heat of the atmosphere. The middle layer was characterized by the presence of sodium, with a jet stream blowing circularly around the planet at about 43,500 miles (70,000 km) per hour – stronger than any winds in our solar system. Winds move gas from the planet’s eternal hot side to its cooler side. The upper layer was characterized based on its hydrogen, with some of this layer being lost into space. Julia Victoria Seidel of the European Southern Observatory and the Lagrange Laboratory at the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur in France, lead author of the study published this week in the journal Nature. Until now, researchers have been able to determine the atmospheric chemical composition for some planets outside our solar system – called exoplanets – but without mapping the vertical structure or how the chemical elements were distributed. The researchers differentiated three layers by looking for the presence of specific elements.

The researchers also detected titanium in gaseous form in WASP-121b’s atmosphere. It is about a third closer to its star than our solar system’s innermost planet Mercury is to the sun – so close that it completes an orbit in 1.3 days. It is located about 900 light-years from Earth in the direction of the constellation Puppis. WASP-121b has roughly the same mass as Jupiter but twice the diameter, making it puffier. Prinoth said, especially with the European Southern Observatory’s Extremely Large Telescope due to be completed in Chile by the end of the decade as the world’s largest optical telescope. The side facing the star has a temperature around 4,900 degrees Fahrenheit (2,700 degrees Celsius/3,000 degrees Kelvin). The planet orbits its star at about 2.5% of the distance of Earth to the sun. Being able to make out the structure of an exoplanet’s atmosphere could be helpful as astronomers search for smaller rocky planets capable of harboring life. A light-year is the distance light travels in a year, 5.9 trillion miles (9.5 trillion km). On Earth, neither iron nor titanium exist in the atmosphere because they are solid metal owing to our planet’s lower temperatures, relative to WASP-121b. Its host star, called WASP-121, is roughly 1-1/2 times the mass and diameter of the sun, and hotter. WASP-121b is tidally locked, meaning that one side of it perpetually faces its star and the other side faces away, like the moon is to Earth. Bibiana Prinoth, a doctoral student in astronomy at Lund University in Sweden. Earth does have a sodium layer in the upper atmosphere. The other side is at about 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit (1,250 degrees Celsius/1,500 degrees Kelvin).

A robber wore a burka as a disguise to carry out a raid on a jewellery shop, police said today. In western Europe wearing of the burka or face-coverings in public has stirred controversy, with some countries considering or imposing a ban on the dress. They raided the shop, stealing a large amount of bracelets, rings and lockets, before escaping in a waiting car, thought to be a silver Toyota Yaris. The cross-dressing criminal used the black head-to-toe garment, worn by some Muslim women, to hide his identity. The other three offenders are described as Asian and were wearing balaclavas. Muslims say the burka is a part of their religious culture and such state interference is evidence of prejudice against their faith. The offender dressed as a woman is described as Asian, around 6ft tall and of thin build. Det Sgt Chris Jameson, of Greater Manchester Police, said: ‘The store has very tight security so the ruse used to gain entry shows a level of detailed planning, and I want to hear from anyone who may have overheard the gang preparing for this robbery. Owners of the jewellers in Bury, Greater Manchester, thought the 6ft-tall robber was a woman and allowed him entry. The gang left behind two holdalls that were branded Wei Bao. Police are now hunting five men, all Asian, thought to be involved in the raid, which took place at about 4.15pm yesterday at Capri Jewellers on Benson Street in Bury. The getaway driver is described as Asian, in his early 20s, of chubby build. He was bald and wearing glasses. But as soon as he was buzzed in three men barged in behind him – one brandishing a shotgun. I would also urge anyone who knows the whereabouts of the getaway car or who may have been approached with a view to buying the stolen items to call police.
